In preparation for its 150th
anniversary in 1997, this institution, which has produced so
many leaders for the community, the state, and the nation, chose
Jack Jaubert to create a mural to celebrate the proud and
illustrious history of this great school.
Jaubert interviewed students,
teachers, administrators and alumni. Using more than 100 people
from the history of the school, Jaubert produced this image
representing the pride and tradition of the school, as well as the
important relationship between the school and the community.
The painting was unveiled as the
finale of a program which included an outdoor mass performed by the
Archbishop of New Orleans on the grounds of the school before
thousands of alumni and community leaders.
Signed and numbered prints of this
image were created and marketed by the school.
The sale of these prints were a financial success for the school.
