As Athletic Director for both
Louisiana State University and
Mississippi State University,
Carl Maddox was a man of vision and energy.
When an institution chooses an Oil
Portrait to honor someone, as was done to recognize Mr. Maddox, it
shows that the person is admired to the point that future
generations, as well as his contemporaries, should be reminded of
his personal greatness and achievements. The person is more than
just a name on a building.
The person is remembered as a human
being that should be emulated.
